Press a hotkey, talk, press again. Plume listens with Apple’s on-device speech recognition, cleans the transcript up with Claude, and drops polished text at your cursor in whatever app is focused. Menu-bar only, no dock icon.
What it gets right. Three writing styles, a personal dictionary for the names and words it should never mangle, and a local history of everything you’ve dictated. It reads the room: the same sentence lands casual in Messages and buttoned-up in Mail. Audio stays on the machine; only the raw transcript goes out for cleanup.
Why I built it. I write most of my first drafts by talking. The tools that did this well were rented, and the ones I could own weren’t good enough. So I made the one I wanted, in a weekend, and have been polishing it since.
